Spread the word!....If your attending ALA 2005 in Chicago, save the date for this exciting program from the ALA Committee on Diversity. Further information will be forthcoming and finalized as the annual conference approaches.

"Don't Move Out, Move Up: Strategies for Underrepresented Librarians for Moving Up the Ladder, Not Out the Door"

As greater attention is paid to the need for recruiting racially and ethnically diverse librarians, researchers and workforce strategists have also begun to heed evidence of higher than average attrition of librarians from these same underrepresented groups. This panel will explore the strategies and resources that all librarians can employ to not only ride the waves, but to navigate the waters to build an immensely fulfilling and meaningful career. Panelists include: Brenda McGlohon, Chicago Public Library; Ninfa A. Trejo, Northwest Campus Library Pima Community College; Sharon Epps, University of Delaware; and Miriam K. Pollack, Library Consultant. Moderated by Willette Stinson, Prairie View A&M University.
