Job Opening: Information Literacy Librarian

Mitchell College Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) seeks applications for an Information Literacy Librarian.
The position reports to the Director of Information Resources and Curriculum Support (IRCS), a service unit that includes instructional technology. The successful candidate in this new and highly visible position will provide leadership in expanding and promoting the Library's curriculum integrated information literacy program; will work closely with the Director and the Instructional Technology Consultant in the design of innovative, effective multimedia and web-based instruction directed at a diverse learning community of undergraduate students; will actively partner with faculty in the furthering of information literacy initiatives across the curriculum; will serve on faculty committees as necessary to ensure cohesive program development; will directly provide information literacy instruction; will develop the mechanisms necessary to assess and evaluate information literacy program effectiveness; will participate in the LITS faculty liaison program in the interests of furthering collection development, of infusing information literacy campus-wide, and of supporting faculty in the use of technology in the classroom; will coordinate the IRCS research tutoring program and provide reference services both on site and remotely; and will assume reference and collection development responsibilities. The successful candidate must be innovative, possessing creative and engaging presentation skills, and be able to successfully address the challenges of working with students with a variety of learning styles and differences, including documented learning disabilities. This position is a full-time 10-month position.

Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited degree or equivalent; 3-5 years’ experience in reference services and teaching in an academic library; Demonstrated expertise in information literacy theory and practice; Demonstrated success in the development of faculty partnerships; Expertise in various teaching methodologies and learning styles; Demonstrated commitment to applying technology in the effective design and delivery of instruction; Creativity and experience designing instructional/informational materials; Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a rapidly changing, demanding, and diverse learning environment; Experience in teaching diverse groups of library users; Experience with electronic and traditional reference services and resources;Excellent oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to work both independently and part of a team;

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with web page and database design/development; Experience working with college students with documented learning disabilities and students who are otherwise academically challenged;Experience with development and implementation of assessment tools.
