NELLS 2005 (New England Library Leadership Symposium)

NELLS (New England Library Leadership Symposium)

The first New England Library Leadership Symposium (NELLS), a
cooperative venture of the New England Library Association and the six New England library associations, was held in 2003. Twenty-four library workers from across New England participated in this intensive 4-day retreat for "up and coming" library leaders.

The purpose of NELLS is to foster the mentoring and development of tomorrow's leaders for our library associations, our libraries, and our communities.

Applications to participate in NELLS 2005 are now being accepted.
Scheduled for July 25 - 29, 2005 at the Canonicus Camp and Conference Center in Exeter RI, NELLS 2005 will have 26 students (4 from each state and 2 from NELA). Each NELLS participant will be expected to serve his/her state or regional library association in some capacity for at least one year following the Symposium.

The NELLS brochure and application are available online at the NELA website www.nelib.org. Applicants may fill out the application online, save it as a Word document, and then submit the completed application via e-mail. Instructions are available with the application.
The deadline for receipt of application is February 4, 2005. Candidates will be notified by April 29, 2005. Questions about NELLS and the application process may be e-mailed to nells@nelib.org.
