New England Library Leadership Symposium (NELLS) 2005

It's happening again for Connecticut library workers! Whether you are a library professional, a support staff member, a volunteer, a trustee, or an active library friend, we are looking for a few 'good' Connecticut folks to apply for this awesome opportunity.

If you've always wanted to test your mettle, strength, will, or skills in the field of librarianship, I challenge you to go to the NELA website at http://www.nelib.org and apply to become an active participant in the career-changing library leadership event for our region.

There are four 'slots' allotted to each New England state and the NELLS Steering Committee would like YOU to seriously consider this fabulous opportunity for your personal growth and professional development.

This biennial event will be held at the Canonicus Camp and Conference Center in Exeter, Rhode Island on July 25-29, 2005. This is a total immersion experience of 5 days/4 nights with 26 'student' participants. As a participant, you will be presented with a comprehensive curriculum by two veteran library facilitators and the help of six mentors.

All six state Library Associations and the New England Library Association have committed financial support to the Leadership Symposium. The cost ($400, all-inclusive) per student participant has been held low to encourage applicants. If your library's budget or you are unable to meet this financially, as a CLA member you can apply for a CLA Proficiency Enhancement Grant at http://cla.uconn.edu/awards/PEG/peg.html

This Leadership Symposium has been created for us, by us. After reading this message and visiting the web page, please consider either self-nomination, or soliciting other applicants that you know are ready for this career boost but are too timid to self-nominate. Let's help one another be the best that we can be!

The deadline for applications has been extended to Tuesday, March 1, 2005. So, get busy and apply right now!
