CEMA Workshop: "Is the Internet Really Reading? New Literacies for New Times."

Workshop reminder: Just want to remind you about an exciting CEMA
workshop planned for Saturday, May 7th, at Sacred Heart University. The
topic is, "Is the Internet Really Reading? New Literacies for New Times."

The presenters are Julie Coiro and Jill Castek. Both are experienced
teachers who are currently doctoral candidates at the University of
Connecticut. They work with Dr. Don Leu at the New Literacy Research Lab.

The focus will be on the new literacies that come with Internet navigation, searching and critical evaluation. We will discuss instructional strategies that incorporate the challenges posed by reading, writing, and communicating within complex and unbound Internet networks.

Please see the flyer at http://www.ctcema.org/netreading.doc - and bring
some of your colleagues along to participate in this important discussion.

Registration deadline is April 29th.
