On Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20, Global Artists Coalition (GAC) will present "A Celebration of Harlem Hip-Hop History," an interdisciplinary history, art and culture exhibition that explores the roots of hip-hop in the Harlem community. Held in conjunction with Columbia University and the Harlem Arts Alliance, the event will include music demonstrations, artistic exhibitions and a sneaker painting competition sponsored by Converse.

GAC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of hip-hop history and culture, helped develop the event to celebrate Hip-HopAppreciation Week (May 15-22).
