Dr. Spencer Shaw received a Lifetime Achievement from the NAACP on
February 3. Dr. Shaw was the first African American Librarian in Hartford in 1941.

James C. Welbourne, City Librarian, and Keith Bradoc Gallant, Esq., President, Board of Library Directors, received the 2007 Reverend Howard Nash Community Leadership Award for the key role the New Haven Free Public Library plays in promoting civic engagement and dialogue in the New Haven area.
