Soul City! African American Cultural Tour of Washington DC
This not-to-be-missed tour of our nation’s Capitol brings you up close and personal with the people, the stories, and the flavors that have shaped the District of Columbia and our entire nation. Driven in an air-conditioned motor coach, we’ll see the home of the great abolitionist, orator, and publisher Frederick Douglass; from there we will make a brief stop at the Anacostia Community Museum where the critically-acclaimed African Presence in México exhibition is on display; next, we’ll drive through fabled LeDroit Park and the U Street Corridor where early African American civil rights pioneers, entrepreneurs, and entertainers lived and worked; and we will also visit the legendary Howard University, once considered the “Harvard” of Black America. We will hear about Washington DC’s Civil War soldiers’ contributions and learn about the recently discovered African Burial Ground near DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood. We will end this fascinating jaunt through DC’s history with lunch at the one and only Ben’s Chili Bowl, a favorite of comedian Bill Cosby and where a certain President has been known to take the occasional lunch. Featured on Food Network’s “Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations” and “Man Versus Food” television series, and cited as one of the nation’s legendary spots for chili and casual fare by Gourmet Magazine, The Washington Post, and the New York Times; lunch at Ben’s Chili Bowl is vegetarian-friendly and best of all—included in the price of the ticket! We told you, you won’t want to miss this tour!!

Ticket Price: $64 per ticket or two tickets for $118
