Sherelle Harris, the children's librarian at the South Norwalk Branch Library, is the city's "Employee of the Month" for December.

Harris has been employed by the city since February 1999. While the South Norwalk Branch Library is closed during renovation, she is working at the Main library on Belden Avenue. According to a press release from the Mayor's office, her "lap sit" programs, where parents bring their young children to enjoy storytelling, always have waiting lists. Her customers commend her use of teaching aids, such as music and soft toys, to engage the attention and involvement of the kids. Harris works collaboratively with the South Norwalk community and Norwalk Community College and partners with many organizations for the benefit of the children and families of Norwalk.

Harris also is a published and prize-winning poet and playwright.
